Friends, Family & Food

Friends, family and food  pretty much sums up our Thanksgving week and weekend,  We headed north for Nashville for a celebratry weekend hosted by Ashley's aunt.  Ashley's cousin, her oldest, was turning 40, so she hosted a grande shindig to celebrate.  Friends and family from all over came to celebrate with him...

The following day was Thanksgiving and she hosted the same group to her house for the day. The weather was perfect which allowed for an all day game of tag football -

which kept growing throughout the day...

but some decided to play their own game...

and others preferred to just watch...

The next night, Nancy hosted the group once again for a simple supper in honor of Ashleys's dads 60th. We ate again and then sang Happy Birthday over an ice cream bar, his favorite.

Which was then followed by a  Honkey Tonk Bar Crawl to downtown Nashville and well, that was just a blast!  We shut it down that night and paid for it the next morning!  :)

Luckily, there was not a thing planned for Saturday or Sunday so we had plenty of time to rest and
recuperate.  And Lynlee has this down to an art.  I walked in and she was all laid up in a kitchen chair digging into a pumpkin pie...literally.  The girl loves her some pumpkin pie!  ;)

And just in case you couldn't tell how much she loved the pie - here it is after her enjoyment!

It was a great Thanksgiving...thank you Nancy for hosting!!

A Tangled Birthday

Lucy has been talking since the summer about a Tangled Birthday Party.  She told me exactly what she wanted and I started pinning.  We were lucky this year in that her birthday fell on Saturday - so the party date was easy to set.  Or at least I thought it was.  My mom called about 3 weeks out to tell me that was when we could be celebrating Thanksgiving with my side of the family.  Yikes....back to the calendar which only made things harder - we already had something on the books the weekend before and there was no time to do it any earlier than that.  And well, the week after her birthday was Thanksgiving and then we're into December and the holidays and well that didn't look to promising.  So, I decided to make a REALLY big deal that she was SO lucky to be able to have her birthday in Auburn and ALL of her cousins would be there to celebrate.  It would be the best. birthday. ever.  That was my pitch and I prayed she would buy it!  :)

So I did my best to make it the real deal.  We decorated the playroom to the brim...

and then all 24 of us surprised her when she walked in with a big ole Happy Birthday (round1).  She was surprised and then got a little overwhemed...

but she got over that pretty fast...

Photobucket

And since it was a tangled party, first bit of business was HAIR...

followed by Lucy "styling"  hair...

Then we made candy jewelry...

Next up was makeup and nails...

The girls were loving this part and the boys, well...

Photobucket

they may have lost interest at that point.  But that didn't bother Lucy, she had presents that needed to be opened...

and, well that must have gotten the boys attention again because they were back...singing Lucy Happy Birthday (round 2)

Photobucket

and then the girls put on a show and sang Happy Birthday (round 3)

Little Bit just did her own thing...

And then we all sang Happy Birthday as a group (round 5)

And since it was gameday in Auburn, we took the partay outside and made signs for a Hot Chocolate to make some money for the birthday girl...

Photobucket

in case you can't read that sign - here's another view.  :)

When we all get together, we are a true house divided - between myself and my sisters, we married a Tennessee, Georgia, and an Auburn fan.  Holley was the only [smart] one that married an Alabama fan - RTR!  ;)  But with Auburn having the season they did, the fans were good sports about our sign - most laughed and agreed!

Auburn ended up winning and a big group of us went to roll Toomers.  (On a side note, Landon was wearing his Alabama jersey while rolling the oaks, and someone popped him with a rock.  Not too hard, so it was kinda funny.  In hindsight, perhaps he was pushing it a litte.  :)  haha )

And then lets see...then it was time for Thanksgiving - so the birthday girl had to take a break, but not for long - because she got another round (at that point, I lost count) of  Happy Birthday from the family during dessert!   :)

It really was a special day and I think she bought it, although she has asked me a couple of times when she will be haing her party with friends!?   ruh-roh  :)   I love this little girl to the moon and back and back again!  She lights up our world!  Happy 4th Birthday Lucy!!
